DAVE AUSTIN BIO – LONG VERSION
Dave Austin shows you how to…
Get “In the Zone” and Stay There Longer
Dave is author of the International Bestseller Be A Beast: Unleash Your Animal instincts For Performance Driven Results and founder of Extreme Focus. His “mental performance coach” training methods are used not only by NFL, MLB, and Olympic Athletes, but also by U.S. Army Rangers, Navy Seals, as well as Fortune 500 company CEO’s and entrepreneurs.
As a former professional athlete himself, he knows what’s going on “inside the minds” of his clients and uses this firsthand knowledge to help his athletes get “in the zone.” In addition to his one-on-one work with athletes, Dave has among other things, helped the U.S. Olympic Field Hockey team get their best results in World Cup competition, and also assisted the L.A. Dodgers in going from last place to winning the Pennant in 2004.
Through personal experience, Dave has learned why some people are successful, and what holds others back from this same success. He knows what motivates, drives, and inspires them. Dave has an uncanny knack for bringing out the best in his clients and for getting measurable results. As such, he brings this wealth of knowledge directly “from the locker room and into the boardroom” in his work with entrepreneurs, sales teams, corporate leaders, CEO’s, and companies such as Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual, FastClick, and Amgen.
PERFORMANCE COACH, KEYNOTE SPEAKER, BEST-SELLING AUTHOR
Affectionately known as the “Head” head coach with many of his professional clients, Dave is a former world-ranked professional tennis player who often wonders, “Where was ‘I’ when I was playing?” meaning…”if I had only known then what I know now, I could have achieved so much more, both on the field and off the field.” Since Dave knows what’s going on inside the mind of an athlete, he’s able to help train their minds to rise to a higher level of greatness, by using this firsthand knowledge to help get his athletes “in the zone” and to stay there longer.
When speaking about his methods, Jim Tracy, manager of the Colorado Rockies says,
“Dave works like no one I’ve ever seen before. But then again, he’s the most effective of anyone I’ve ever seen in this field.”
Best known for his trademark “game ready” process, he’s helped many NFL, MLB, Olympic, and college athletes allow their true talents shine. Dave has not only worked with professional teams such as the LA Dodgers, Texas Rangers, a U.S. Olympic team, the United Football League, he’s also worked with teams spanning the ages; beginning with organized youth sports, and up into the high school and D1 college level too.
DAVE HAS LED AN INTERESTING LIFE; running the gamut from real estate developer, product marketer, and corporate executive, to performance coach, speaker, and author, as well as actor, musician, and professional athlete. He has been in movies with Jeff Bridges and Glenn Close, featured in numerous TV commercials, and has had a “Pick Hit” single in Billboard magazine. He has run two independent record labels and co-authored the International Bestselling book, Songwriting for Dummies.
Beginning in the early ‘80s, Dave, along with his good friend and drummer/founder of the mega-rock group Kansas, produced and promoted a series of all-star concerts with some of the greatest talent in the industry including: Carlos Santana, Melissa Etheridge, David Foster, Commodores, Rush, REO Speedwagon, Kansas, Alan Parsons Project, Survivor, Eddie Money, Queen, Loverboy, Peabo Bryson, Michael McDonald, James Ingram, Pablo Cruise, Ambrosia, Stephen Bishop, Paul Davis, and America. These Music & Tennis Festivals raised over one million dollars in charitable funds for various causes including City of Hope, MusiCares, GRAMMY in the Schools, the Make A Wish Foundation, and for cancer research.
Limiting himself to one or two careers has never been an option until now, as he exclusively devotes his time to his related coaching activities, which include helping athletes with his “Extreme Focus” products and membership programs, along with his “Players of Faith” non-profit organization. Faith has played a big part in his life, as his dad, “Hammering Hank Austin,” was a Chaplain in the Navy who served both in WWII and the Korean War and gave communion at the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima. Knowing that his dad led the charge ‘without a gun’ in the face of machine gun fire, has led him to an inner strength that has no boundaries.
Dave brings his “visualization process” and insights to countless audiences across the nation and as far away as Uzbekistan — sharing his success methods of “Extreme Focus” with not only professional and elite amateur athletes and teams, but also with entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, managers, sales professionals, corporate employees and educators as well. He is a compelling, empowering and compassionate coach who has helped many around the globe.
As a San Diego State University graduate with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in both Psychology and Physical Education, Dave uses a unique blend of education and real life experience to get extraordinary results. He has developed specific methodology and results-oriented activities to help people take on greater challenges and produce breakthrough results. His clients are now accustomed to realizing their full potential and to exceeding the boundaries that they previously thought were holding them back.
